Emmanuel International Mission (EIM) is the United States affiliate of Emmanuel Relief and Rehabilitation International. We are an international, interdenominational, evangelical organization that assists communities worldwide through the agency of the churches within those communities in order to meet the needs of the poor. Founded in 1975 by Rev. George Middleton as a response to the widespread suffering caused by a devastating famine in eastern Africa, Emmanuel International has a proven record of commitment, care and compassion in addressing these needs.

Emmanuel International works in developing countries worldwide through effective, caring action and culturally sensitive projects. Our efforts meet the needs of people practically, spiritually and emotionally.

Our Ministries take us to some of the most remote areas of the world to serve the poorest of the poor. We address the poverty of others regardless of race, gender, color or religion. Working under the authority of local churches, our projects address the needs identified in collaboration with the communities they serve. Through these close connections, we dedicate our mission towards meeting the needs of the poor.

The programs and ministries we implement involve working in the areas of Sustainable Development, Relief, Rehabilitation, and Christian Ministry and more.

Mission statement

EIM links caring Americans with churches worldwide to transform lives in the most desperate places, bring hope and healing to communities, families and individuals.

Statement of faith

EIM upholds these Evangelical truths
As a Christian organization, Emmanuel International works alongside various types of denominations and churches. Styles of worship and methods of teaching can be vastly different all over the world, but the following universal Christian values we hold true.

What we believe about God
We believe in God's triune nature: the unity of the Godhead of three equal persons.
Deut 6:4 | Matt 28:19 | 2 Cor 13:14

The Father: a spirit, infinite, eternal, and unchangeable in attributes.
John 4:24 | Ex 34:6

The Son, Jesus Christ: His deity, virgin birth, sinless life, atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension, and His imminent return for His bride, the Church.
John 1:1 | Isaiah 7:14 | Heb 7:26 | 1 Cor 15:3-4 | Acts 1:11

The Holy Spirit: His indwelling presence in the believer; His baptism of all who believe into the body of Christ; identifying us with death, burial and resurrection to new life of Christ; and sealing the believer for eternity.
John 14:17 | Rom 6:3-5 | 1 Cor 12:13 | 2 Cor 1:21-22

What we believe about the Bible
We believe that the Bible is inspired by the Holy Spirit, inerrant in the original writings and our guide and final authority in faith and life.
2 Tim 3:15-16 | 2 Peter 1:21 | John 17:17 | Matt 4:4

What we believe about humanity
We believe in humanity's separation from Christ by sin; humanity's total fallen nature requiring Christ's atoning sacrifice for reunion with God through salvation; humanity's creation in the image of God resulting in the immeasurable intrinsic value of each human from conception to death.
Ps 139:13-16 | Eph 2:1-3, 12-13

What we believe about salvation
We believe in salvation by grace through faith in the shed blood of our Lord Jesus Christ as the sole means of attaining eternal life.
John 3:16 | Rom 6:23 | Eph 2: 8-9

We believe in the everlasting reward of the saved in heaven and the everlasting punishment of the lost in hell.
Matt 25:26 | Phil 3:19-21

What we believe about the church
We believe that the Church is the body of Christ in the world today, in both its universal aspect, the whole body of those born again in the Spirit, and its local expression, the assembly established for worship and witness.
Eph 1:22-23; 5:25-32 | Acts 15:41; 16:5

Program accomplishments

Emmanuel International Mission, along with six other nonprofit organizations founded Millennium Water Alliance (MWA). It is dedicated to providing clean water and basic sanitation worldwide. MWA operates as an umbrella organization providing institutional synergy to ensure technical excellence, programmatic innovation, and long-term financial, social and environmental sustainablility in water resources management to its members. In addition, MWA provides cost effective synergies for advocacy of clean water and basic sanitation. The relationship with MWA will provide cost savings to both EIM and USAID through efficiencies of coordinated programs and grant proposals, and grant administration.
