Purpose
Ezell-Harding Christian School exists to teach young people God's revealed will to man through the Bible and to encourage them to grow and mature in the likeness of Christ. Luke 2:52 serves as a motto: "...and Jesus grew in wisdom, in stature, and in favor with God and man." With daily Bible instruction as the core of the curriculum, weekly chapel services and devotional periods are held each morning; our academic curriculum is selected to insure an advanced education leading to a variety of careers. Extra-curricular activities are offered to enhance the students' physical, social and personal development. EHCS students are urged to stretch their minds, bodies, and hearts, to become useful citizens for our country and in God's kingdom.
Mission statement
Ezell-Harding Christian School is dedicated to the ideal of helping each student realize the full potential God has instilled in him or her. This is a place where students can learn for their future on earth and for eternity.
Statement of faith
The Statement of Faith of Ezell-Harding Christian School provides affirmation of biblical doctrine that is in concert with the message of God as reflected in the Bible and historic Christianity. This statement also defines the perspective that shapes an Ezell-Harding Christian School education. We believe and teach the following:
The Triune God
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three equally divine Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, who know, love, and glorify one another. This one true and living God is worthy to receive all glory and adoration. Genesis 1:1-3; Isaiah 44:6-8; Mark 12:29; John 1:1-5; 2 Corinthians 13:14
Father
We believe in God the Father who is perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love. We believe that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of each person, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ. Exodus 11:15; Psalm 29:2; Isaiah 6:3; Jeremiah 31:3, 32:17-23; Jeremiah 32:17-23; Romans 5:8, 11:33; 1 John 5:14-15; Revelation 4:8
Son
We believe in God the Son, Jesus Christ the Savior, the only begotten Son of God. We believe in His deity, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His substitutionary and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His continuous intercession for His people, and in His personal return in power and in glory. Luke 1:35; John 1:1-18; Colossians 1:15-20
Holy Spirit
We believe in God the Holy Spirit, the Helper and Comforter. We believe in His daily guidance and revelation of truth, in His conviction of sin, and in His indwelling presence, enabling believers to live godly lives. Genesis 1:1-2; Luke 11:13; John 14:26; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:9-10; 2 Peter 1:21; Acts 2:38
The Bible
We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be inspired by the Holy Spirit, inerrant in the original writings, and accurately maintained over the ages by God's Spirit. They are the only supreme and final authority for the rule of faith and life for all people. II Timothy 3:15-18; John 17:17; Acts 18:27-28;1 Corinthians 15:3; Hebrews 4:12
Gospel Response
We believe that God calls mankind to respond to the good news of Jesus. We are called by the teaching of the gospel to believe that Jesus is the Son of God and to be baptized for the remission of our sins. We are called to participate in the communion of the saints. Acts 2:41-42;46-47; Hebrews11:6; Mark 16:15-16; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26; 2 Thessalonians 2:13-14; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4
Humanity and Salvation
We believe that God created man and woman in His own image, as free moral agents, distinct from all other living creatures. We believe they sinned by rebelling against God's revealed will and thereby incurred both physical and spiritual death and that all humankind as well carries its own guilt of sin. We believe that the Lord Jesus canceled the debt of sin on the cross. By His resurrection, Jesus broke the power of death, defeated Satan, and brought everlasting life to all His people. We believe that salvation is found in no one else. Genesis 1:26-29; Romans 3:23-24, 8:31-38; 1 Corinthians 15:1-3; John 14:6; John 3:16; Acts 20:32; Galatians 3:26-27
Unity
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Acts 2:42-47; Romans 15:5-7; 1 Corinthians 1:2-3, 12:12-14; Ephesians 4:1-3; John 17:20-23
Statement on Marriage, Sexuality, and Gender
We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male and female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. Rejection of one's biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person. We believe marriage is instituted by God as a covenant between one man and one woman for life, as delineated in Scripture. Marriage uniquely reflects Christ's relationship with the Church. We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other and that any form of sexual immorality or sexual relationship outside of marriage is sinful and offensive to God.
Genesis 1: 26-27, 2:18-25; Ephesians 5:21-33; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, 6:18, 7:2-5; Hebrews 13:4; Mark 10:6-9
Statement on the Sanctity of Human Life
We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God is His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, every race and ethnicity, all socio-economic levels, those with physical or mental disabilities, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to value, protect, and value all human life. Psalm 139:13-16; Acts 3:15
Parents Are Primary
We believe that parents and guardians have the primary responsibility to educate their children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. The authority of the school is an extension of the authority of the parents. Therefore, the school must work in partnership with the home to instill the values of Christ, just as a mother and father must work in agreement to train up the child. Deuteronomy 4:9, 6:7; Ephesians 6:1-4
Final Authority for Matters of Belief and Conduct
The statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe.
2Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:20-21

History
A group of Christians met a number of times in 1971 and 1972 with the great dream of establishing a Christian school in the south Nashville area. A Board was selected and concerted efforts were made to raise funds, find a building site and select personnel. A beautiful 23-acre site was located on Bell Road, which Mr. Houston Ezell had given to Harding College, Searcy, Arkansas. Mr. Ezell proposed to give Harding College another tract of land if Harding College would give the Bell Road land to the new school. Harding College agreed, and it was decided to name the school for the Ezell family and James A. Harding, who was an outstanding preacher and educator. The school campus is currently in excess of 30 acres.
The Tusculum Church of Christ helped in realizing the dream by offering use of its building for the first school year of operation, 1973-74. With a staff of eight, the first six grades were conducted with some eighty students.
Thanks to many, including a hard working building committee, the great dream came into fuller realization when in its second year Ezell-Harding Christian School began operating in the new modern building on Bell Road with seven grades. Two hundred seventeen students enrolled and a staff of fourteen was employed. The Elementary School facility consisted of sixteen classrooms, a large multi-purpose room and offices. The High School facility was partially finished for the school year 1976-77 and completed for the school year 1977-78. The Whorley Activity Center, (including the gymnasium and music room) the science building and paving of the driveways and parking areas were completed during the 1978-79 school year. These modern facilities were completed with carpeting, acoustical tile ceilings, fluorescent lighting, heating, air conditioning and were of fireproof construction. Lights for the athletic field and a 2000 seat stadium were completed in 1980. When the school year 1982-83 began, the students had access to a new elementary library.
In 1984, Phase I of the Middle School was completed which included four classrooms. Phase II was completed in 1985 which included a gymnasium and office complex. In the fall of 1987, the entire Middle School complex was opened. A regulation baseball field, track, regulation softball field and a modernly equipped Elementary School playground were completed in 1989 and 1990. The fall of 1993 saw the completion of an administrative building, 6 classrooms, cafeteria and kitchen and the expansion of the High School gymnasium. Completed in the winter of 1995, an addition to the Whorley Activity Center provided coaches' offices, locker rooms, weight room, and a large facility for PE classes and the extended day care program. In 2004 restroom facilities were added in the area beneath the football stadium. In 2004 the addition of one classroom and a new library were completed. The former self standing library was moved off campus making way for the addition of four additional elementary classrooms.
