Purpose
As a Christian school in Mansfield Ohio, we partner with families to provide a safe, caring environment where students grow in both learning and faith from daycare through high school.
Mission statement
Educational and religious institution for pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, elementary, and high school students.
Statement of faith
1. The Holy Scriptures
We believe in the Holy Scriptures, accepting fully the writings of the Old and New Testaments as the very Word of God, verbally inspired in all parts and therefore wholly without error as originally given of God, altogether sufficient in themselves as our only infallible rule of faith and practice (Matt. 5:18; John 10:35; 12:42; 17:17; 2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21).
2. The Only Triune God
We believe in the only Triune God: who is personal, spirit, and sovereign (Mark 12:29); eternal in His being, holiness, love, wisdom, and power (Ps. 18:30; 147:5; Deut. 33:27); absolutely separate and above the world as its Creator, yet everywhere present in the world as the Upholder of all things (Gen. 1:1; Ps. 104). He is self-existent and self-revealing in three distinct Persons-the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (John 5:26; Matt. 28:19; 2 Cor. 13:14)-each of whom is to be honored and worshiped equally as true God (John 5:23; Acts 5:3-4).
3. The Lord Jesus Christ
We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, the Second Person of the Triune God, the eternal Word and Only Begotten Son, our great God and Savior (John 1:1; 3:16; Titus 2:13; Rom. 9:5). Without any essential change in His divine Person (Heb. 13:8), He became man by the miracle of the Virgin Birth (John 1:14; Matt. 1:23). As true Man, one Person with two natures (Col. 2:9; Rev. 22:16), He was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin (Heb. 4:15; John 8:46). As the perfect Lamb of God, He gave Himself in death on the Cross, bearing the sin of the world and suffering its full penalty in our stead (Isa. 53:5-6; Matt. 20:28; Gal. 3:13; John 1:29). He arose from the dead and was glorified in the same body in which He suffered and died (Luke 24:36-43; John 20:25-28). As our great High Priest, He ascended into heaven to appear before God as our Advocate and Intercessor (Heb. 4:14; 9:24; 1 John 2:1).
4. The Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Triune God (Matt. 28:19; Acts 5:3-4), the divine Agent in creation, revelation, and redemption (Gen. 1:2; Ps. 104:30; 1 Cor. 2:10; 2 Cor. 3:18). He convicts the world of sin (John 16:8-11), regenerates those who believe (John 3:5), and indwells, baptizes, seals, empowers, guides, teaches, and sanctifies all who become children of God through Christ (1 Cor. 6:19; 12:12-13; Eph. 4:30; 3:16; Rom. 8:14; John 14:26; 1 Cor. 6:11).
5. The Creation and Fall of Man
We believe that man was the direct creation of God-spirit, soul, and body-not the product of animal ancestry, but made in the divine image (Gen. 1:26-28; 2:7, 18-24; Matt. 19:4; 1 Thess. 5:23). By personal disobedience to God's revealed will, man became a sinful creature and the progenitor of a fallen race (Gen. 3; 5:3), universally sinful in both nature and practice (Eph. 2:3; Rom. 3:23; 5:12). Thus, all are alienated from God (Eph. 4:18; John 8:42-44), under His righteous judgment (Rom. 3:19; 1:18), and utterly without means of recovery apart from Christ (Mark 7:21-23; Matt. 19:26; Rom. 7:18).
6. Salvation by Grace Through Faith
We believe that salvation is the free gift of God (Rom. 3:24; 6:23), neither merited nor secured in whole or in part by human virtue or works (Titus 3:5; Rom. 4:4-5; 11:6). It is received only by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (John 3:16; 6:28-29; Acts 16:30-31; Eph. 2:8-9). In Him, all true believers possess eternal life, perfect righteousness, adoption into God's family, deliverance from condemnation, spiritual resources for life and godliness, and the assurance of never perishing (1 John 5:13; Rom. 3:22; Gal. 3:26; John 5:24; Eph. 1:3; 2 Peter 1:3; John 10:27-30).
7. Righteous Living and Good Works
We believe that good works are not the cause of salvation, but its fruit and evidence (1 John 3:9-11; Eph. 2:8-10; Titus 2:14). Therefore, Christians should keep the Word (John 14:23), seek things above (Col. 3:1), walk as Christ walked (1 John 2:6), maintain good works (Titus 3:8), and bear the Gospel to a lost world (Acts 1:8; 2 Cor. 5:19; John 15:16). A victorious life is possible only through God's grace (Rom. 6:14) and full surrender to Him (Rom. 12:1-2).
8. The Existence of Satan
We believe that Satan was originally created holy, but fell through pride and rebellion (Ezek. 28:17-18; Isa. 14:13-14). Now utterly depraved (John 8:44), he is the adversary of God and His people (Matt. 4:1-11), leader of evil spirits (Matt. 12:24-26), deceiver of the world (Rev. 12:9; 2 Cor. 4:4). Though powerful, he is limited by God (Job 1:1-22), defeated at the Cross, and destined for final doom (John 12:31; Rev. 20:10). Believers overcome him by God's armor and Christ's blood (Eph. 6:12-18; Rev. 12:11).
9. The Second Coming of Christ
We believe that Christ's return will be personal, visible, and glorious (Acts 1:11; Rev. 22:20). He will rapture His Church (1 Thess. 4:16-18), bring judgment on the unbelieving world (Rev. 6-18), and establish His kingdom for a thousand years (Rev. 19-20). He will then judge the unsaved (Rev. 20:11-14) and, as the Eternal Son, reign forever in the New Heaven and New Earth (Luke 1:32-33; Rev. 21-22).
10. Future Life, Resurrection, and Judgment
We believe that the saved go immediately to be with Christ at death (Phil. 1:21-23), awaiting bodily resurrection at His coming (Phil. 3:20-21). Their works will be judged for reward (1 Cor. 3:8-15). The unsaved enter Hades (Luke 16:19-31), awaiting final resurrection and eternal punishment (Rev. 20:11-15; 21:8).
11. The One True Church
We believe in the one true Church, the Body and Bride of Christ (Eph. 4:4; 5:25-32), begun at Pentecost (Matt. 16:18; Acts 2:47) and completed at Christ's return (1 Thess. 4:16-17). Believers are baptized by the Spirit into this Body (1 Cor. 12:12-13) and should gather in local churches for worship, fellowship, teaching, and observance of ordinances.
12. Separation from the World
We believe that Christians, as citizens of heaven (Phil. 3:20), should walk in separation from the sinful world (2 Cor. 6:14-18; Rom. 12:2), abstain from worldly amusements and unclean habits (Luke 8:14; 1 Thess. 5:22), and glorify God in body and spirit (1 Cor. 6:19-20).
13. Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality
We believe that God created humanity male and female (Gen. 1:26-27). Marriage is the exclusive union of one man and one woman (Gen. 2:18-25). Sexual intimacy is ordained only within marriage (1 Cor. 6:18; Heb. 13:4). Any sexual immorality-including adultery, fornication, homosexuality, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, and pornography-is sinful (Matt. 15:18-20; 1 Cor. 6:9-10).
We believe that staff and volunteers at Mansfield Christian School must uphold this biblical standard (Matt. 5:16; Phil. 2:14-16). God offers forgiveness and restoration to all who repent (Acts 3:19-21; Rom. 10:9-10). Every person must be treated with compassion, dignity, and respect (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31).

History
The story of MCS history begins with a small group of faithful believers who walked the land where our school now stands, asking God to raise up a ministry that would be a light for Christ in north central Ohio. In the fall of 1961, those prayers were answered. Mansfield Christian School opened its doors in the lower level of Marion Avenue Grace Brethren Church. Parents and teachers held to two convictions: that education is the responsibility of parents, and that it should always be built on a biblical worldview.
