Purpose
To be a model for today's education (I Thessalonians 4:11-12)
We are interested in education being done well, period. Where we are excellent, we look for opportunities to share it. Where others shine, we see an opportunity to learn. Education should not be a zero-sum game of exclusive, proprietary, hyper-localized gain to the detriment or suppression of others' excellence. Broadly speaking, education should be about the business of a flourishing society through the enlightening of minds, the inflaming of hearts, and the transformation of lives. We see that happening best by the advancement of the Kingdom through the immersive learning of a Christ-centered education.
Mission statement
The mission at Covenant Christian High School is provide an excellent, Christ-centered education for a life of scholarship, leadership, and service.
Statement of faith
God's Image
We believe all humanity was created in the image of God, and everything that God made was good. We are God's children and the Lord loves us unconditionally. It is God's will that all humankind be saved, and we were created to bring God glory (Genesis 1:26-27; Genesis 9:6; Matthew 22:37-38; I Corinthians 15:49; John 16:27; I Timothy 4:4-5; Ephesians 1:5-6).
The Bible
We believe the Holy Bible is inspired, the only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God. Since we believe that God has spoken in the Scriptures, the Bible is to be believed in all that it teaches, obeyed in all that it requires, and trusted in all that it promises (Joshua 1:8; Isaiah 40:8; Psalm 119:89; II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:20-21).
The Trinity
We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons-Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; John 10:30).
We believe in the deity of Christ (John 10:33); His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:35); His sinless life (Hebrews 4:15, 7:26); His miracles (John 2:11); His vicarious and atoning death (I Corinthians 15:3; Ephesians 1:7; Hebrews 2:9); His resurrection (John 11:25; I Corinthians 15:4); His ascension to the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:19; Ephesians 1:20); and His personal return in power and glory (Acts 1:11; Revelation 19:11-13).
Salvation
We believe the only way to God the Father is through Jesus the Son. Because of God's love and not wanting us to die in our sins, Jesus's sacrificed blood on the Cross provides us with redemption and reconciliation. Salvation is a gift from God that can never be earned through good works or self-merit; and, once saved, our sins past, present, and future are forgiven (Daniel 9:9; Jeremiah 31:34; Galatians 2:20; I Corinthians 15:55-57; I Peter 2:24).
Roman Road
As it is written, there is none righteous, no not one. - Romans 3:10
For all have sinned, and come short of the Glory of God. - Romans 3:23
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. - Romans 5:8
For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. - Romans 6:23
That if thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. - Romans 10:9
So the faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. - Romans 10:17
Love
We believe that the greatest commandments are (1) to love God and (2) to love our neighbors as ourselves (Matthew 22:36-40). We believe that we should demonstrate love toward fellow believers, those who are not believers, those who actively oppose us or our faith or doctrine, and those who engage in actions contrary to Biblical teaching. We believe that we should treat those who oppose us graciously, gently, patiently, and humbly (Psalm 86:15). We believe that the Scriptures forbid the taking of revenge and the threat or use of violence as a means of resolving personal conflict or obtaining personal justice (Matthew 5:44-48; Luke 6:31; John 13:34-35; Romans 12:9-10; Philippians 2:2-4). We also believe that love and truth complement rather than conflict with one another (Ephesians 4:15).
Dignity and Respect
We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, empathy, kindness, respect, and dignity. Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accordance with God's Word (Proverbs 16:6; Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31; I Peter 3:9).
Equality
We believe in the equality of all people regardless of their gender, social class, race, ethnicity, or nationality as there is no distinction in God's love and treatment of persons; and salvation is free and available to all (Psalm 67:4; Romans 2:11; Romans 10:12; Colossians 3:11; Titus 2:11-12).
Discipleship
We believe in the Lord's Great Commission, and we are called to share the gospel of God and the way to salvation with all the world. We know not the day or time of Christ's return and therefore must be diligent in spreading the Good News (Matthew 28:18; Luke 9:23; John 14:6; Titus 2:11-12).
Service
We believe all Christians are gifted by God for ministry and service to others, especially to poor, oppressed, and marginalized persons. We believe we serve God by serving others (Proverbs 19:17; Luke 14:13-14; Romans 12:3-8; I Corinthians 12:7-13; Acts 20:35).
Christian Living
We believe in the active work and indwelling of the Holy Spirit which enables Christians to live a holy and sanctified life; therefore, we are to bear fruit according to our faith and help bring light to darkness (Matthew 5:48; Romans 8:13-14; I Corinthians 3:16, 6:19-20; Ephesians 4:30, 5:18; Luke 3:8).
Our Statement of Faith is not an exhaustive list of all of our beliefs. The Bible is the absolute authority regarding the proper conduct of humankind and is the unchanging foundation for all belief and behavior. The Covenant Christian High School Board of Trustees holds final interpretive authority on biblical meaning and application with regard to faith, doctrine, policy, practice, and discipline.

History
Covenant Christian High School started as a dream in the hearts of a few Westside parents. In the fall of 1995, God used a unique mix of individuals, churches, and businesses to launch the first freshman class of 20 students in the basement of Chapel Rock Christian Church. In the spring of 1996, Chapel Rock donated 23 acres of land to the school, and the New Covenant Foundation gifted the $8,000,000 necessary to build the state-of-the-art facility. By the fall 1997, Covenant was fully accredited as a Freeway School by the State of Indiana, and 112 students and 20 staff and faculty began classes in Covenant's current facility. Today, Covenant serves hundreds of students from six Indiana counties and multiple countries, and it is triple-accredited by the Association of Christian School International, and the State of Indiana. Covenant's excellent, Christ-centered education offers a full array of college preparatory academics, awe-inspiring fine arts, championship-level athletics, and an ecclectic lineup of student life activities. All of Covenant's offerings are led by over 60 outstanding professionals who are committed to the transformation of minds through the renewal of minds.
