Summary

World Help is a Christian humanitarian organization serving the physical and spiritual needs of impoverished communities around the world.

Everything we do is built on the belief that we, as people of faith, are called to change lives. And we believe lives can only be changed when the needs of the whole person are met - body and soul.

Faith means very little when people don't have access to the food, clean water, or medicines they need. But without faith, meeting those physical needs is just a short-term fix. It takes both physical help and spiritual hope for true transformation to happen.

Mission statement

World Help is a Christian humanitarian organization serving the physical and spiritual needs of people in impoverished communities around the world.

Statement of faith

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.

We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.

We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful men, repentance of sin and faith in Jesus Christ results in regeneration by the Holy Spirit and that Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation.

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Response from ministry

Our Financial Commitment to You

World Help is committed to faithful stewardship of funds entrusted to us by donors. We promise to use gifts wisely and effectively in Christ's Name.

World Help, Inc. is a non-profit Christian organization chartered by the State of Virginia and tax exempt by the Internal Revenue Service under code section 501(c)(3). The bylaws governing this ministry direct that resources be used to reach out in love to those who have never heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Contributions are used to accomplish this purpose.

We are committed to fulfilling the following standards:

We subscribe to a written statement of faith clearly affirming our commitment to the evangelical Christian faith.

We are governed by a responsible Board, the majority of whom are not staff members or relatives of staff members. The World Help Board meets at least semi-annually to establish policies, set budgets, oversee the organization's financial practices, and review ministry accomplishments.

We obtain an annual audit which is performed by an independent public accounting firm in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards (GAAS) with financial statements prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

We have a functioning audit review committee appointed by the Board, the majority of whom are not staff members or the relatives of staff members, for the purpose of reviewing the annual audit and reporting its findings to the Board.

We provide copies of our current audited financial statements upon written request.

We seek to conduct our activities with the highest standards of integrity and avoid conflicts of interest.

Our fund-raising appeals clearly identify the purposes and programs to which donations will be applied, and we ensure that donations are used for the purposes for which they are raised.

We are members in good standing of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA).

World Help strives to keep overhead costs to a minimum using only 9% for the administration of our various projects. Only 3% is used for fundraising with 88% for ministry projects. All gifts designated for specific purposes are used as designated.

History

When Vernon Brewer survived cancer, he knew God had a mission for his life. He just didn't know what it was yet. Then in 1991, Vernon felt called to go to Russia and partner with Christians in Moscow to hand out Bibles to people across Eastern Europe. During that trip, he discovered the great need for both physical help and spiritual hope around the world. That year, he founded World Help as a way to mobilize others to help meet those urgent needs through Bible distribution, humanitarian aid, crisis response, church planting, and more.
