Summary
Opening hearts with open arms. Resurrection House is an emergency shelter and short stay. This is a multi-purpose project consisting of a temporary shelter and a longer-term program providing the homeless and those at risk with an opportunity to improve their way of life. We provide a safe, secure environment, supervised meals, toiletries and laundry facilities for all who stay. Because there is a requirement of community service attached to residence at Resurrection House, there is less transient traffic. There is a resident population of people making an effort to change their lives for the better. We encourage residents after their 3 months stay to continue into the program at Life Skills Institute, a long-term program of Resurrection House.

History
Resurrection House is an independent, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization which was founded in 1989 to offer blankets and food to those living under the bridges. In 1990, remodeling of our current dorm began at 125 N. 9th St., in Chickasha, OK. The shelter started taking in residents in March of 1991. Kent Hibbard and family were hired in October of 1991 to operate the shelter. The organization has continued to provide emergency shelter and has developed additional assistance programs. These comprehensive services are offered to families and individuals living in poverty and adversely affected by the housing crisis currently experienced throughout the country. Volunteers are a vital part of the history and day-to-day mission and hospitality of Resurrection House.
We acquired the former Jane Brooks School located at 701 Colorado Ave, in Chickasha to be renovated into what now is Life Skills Institute. as of May 2016, it is now in operation as a program of Resurrection House.
