Purpose
Our core values are to treat all people with dignity, compassion, and respect. Our programs and services are designed to help end the cyclical nature of homelessness. We are addressing causes, such as addictions, generational poverty, lack of education, poor budgeting skills, diminished mental or physical capacity, and others as well as serving those who are struggling to overcome these barriers one person at a time.
Mission statement
To reflect the love of Jesus Christ, by providing emergency, temporary, and rehabilitative care for those experiencing hunger and homelessness.
Statement of faith
We believe in the Scripture of the Old and New Testament as verbally inspired of God, and inerrant in the original writings, and that they are of supreme and final authority in faith and life.
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons; the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, and is true God and true Man.
We believe that man was created in the image of God; that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also spiritual death, which is separation from God.
We believe that all human beings are born with a sinful nature, and in the case of those who have reached the age of moral responsibility, become sinners in thought, word and deed.
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice; and that all who believe in Him are truly justified on the ground of His shed blood.
We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into Heaven, and His present life there for us, as High Priest and Advocate.
We believe in "that blessed hope", the personal and imminent return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
We believe that all those who receive, by faith, the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God.
Lastly, we believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust; everlasting blessedness of the saved, and everlasting, conscious punishment of the lost.

History
In response to God's prompting and through the vision of a group of Christian men, Montana Rescue Mission (MRM) was opened in the late 1940's as a beacon of hope for the homeless in our area.
1949 began serving holiday meals
Organized in 1955 as Christ's Rescue Mission
Incorporated in 1957 as a 501(c) (3) tax exempt non-profit and the name changed to Montana Rescue Mission
Located at different locations during the 1950's and 1960's
In the late 1960's, MRM moved to North 26th Street.
In the late 1970's, MRM moved to 2822 Minnesota Avenue.
In 1985, the first Bargain Center was opened to provide financial support to the Shelters. The store is currently located at 1233 24th Street West.
In 1991, MRM opened the Shelter for Women & Families located in the former Lincoln Hotel at 2520 1st Avenue North.
In 2021, MRM combined the Women & Families Shelter with the Men's Shelter located at 2822 Minnesota Avenue.
While the size and complexity of MRM has grown over the last 60 years, at its heart is the love and compassion of God demonstrated through service to others. We are the Gospel lived out!
