History
WER started in 1974 as an informal outreach by an American religious broadcaster wishing to deliver emergency aid to drought- stricken Africa and flood victims in Bangladesh.
In 1985, WER incorporated and elected Reverend Joel MacCollam, an Episcopal minister, as its first president. Current efforts are focused on five continents, plus long-term relief to Native Americans.
