Purpose
CMI is an international mission organization dedicated to a three-fold vision of the "Evangelization of China," the "Kingdomization of the Chinese Church," and the "Christianization of China." We seek to implement this vision through an integrated approach of research, training, and sending the glory of the Father, by authority of the Lord Jesus, and the workings of the Holy Spirit.
1. EVANGELIZATION OF CHINA
As we look upon the world, one person of five is Chinese. As we look at the harvest field, one out of three among the unreached peoples s Chinese. It is undeniable that China is the greatest harvest field in the world today. In the past fifty years, God has done a mighty work in China. The number of Christians has multiplied from less than 1 million (1949) to over 60-80 million (1996). After the June 4th Massacre in 1989, a "Christianity fever" has spread like wildfire among Chinese intellectuals. There has never been such a golden opportunity for the evangelization of China in the past five thousand years. Now it is the time that 1.3 billion are thirsting for salvation. Now it is the time that the door for Gospel is wide open. This is the critical moment for the evangelization of the Chinese people.
2. SRENGTHENING OF THE CHINESE CHURCH
The church is the glorious body of Christ. Ministries can be developed through the renewal and equipping of the church. CMI's long term goal is to overcome denominationalism and self-centeredness by promoting church renewal and enabling churches worldwide to engage in a cooperative effort for the evangelization of China.
3. CHRISTIANIZATION OF THE CHINESE CULTURE
Chinese culture is at a crossroad. Traditional culture has been demolished and Marxism is now crumbling down. A crisis of faith is keenly felt. People are despondent about the present turmoil and immorality. What can Christianity contribute to the reconstruction of Chinese culture? Chinese Christians face the solemn task of illuminating Chinese culture with Biblical truth, regenerating the Chinese character with new life in Christ and restructuring Chinese thinking with Christian worldview.
China Ministries International affirms the culture mandate as well as the missionary mandate. Because of this, we invest our efforts in research, publication, training and communication to make a Christian impact in Chinese culture.
Mission statement
CMI is an international mission organization composed of Christians who are committed to the fulfillment of the Three-fold Vision of: Evangelizing the Chinese People; Strengthening of the Chinese Church; and Christianization of the Chinese Culture, through the introduction of Christian values by means of research, training, publishing, and sending those who are called. We do all these to the glory of God, under the Lordship of Christ, and in the power of the Holy Spirit.

History
China Ministries International began in Hong Kong in 1978, when it was founded as the Chinese Church Research Center under Rev. Jonathan Chao. CMI was founded in the US in 1987 by Rev. Chao for the purpose of training and sending missionaries to spread the Gospel to Chinese people in mainland China. CMI has offices in Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, Korea, Philippines and the United Kingdom. CMI began to contact minority groups in 1991, and then cooperated with churches and mission agencies to adopt a group for mission work. In this process, a new strategy called "Multi-Adoption Partnership" (MAP) was developed. whereby partnering groups play different roles according to their gifts and talents, until a native church is planted in an adopted group. CMI's role is to integrate missions with research and training so that sufficient information on a group may be gathered and training materials can be developed to train mission teams. CMI began the delivery of the Twin Companions (a copy of the Fish Bible and the Training Manual for Church Workers) 10,000 sets per year in 1996.
